Now alot of you may not of heard of the Homeworld series. The original game released in 1998 was one of a kind and achieved game of the year in so many gaming magazines and websites. With the release of Homeworld2 in 2003 the game series carried on with the gripping story and once again brings on the stunning graphics and the beautiful space environments you play in.

The story carries on from the original homeworld story you the Hiigarans once again have to fight against an unknown enemy who threaten your existance again. Not only does the game employ good tactics, but it also makes the player think alot more. eg; capital ships have certain points were you may hit to disable its capability, you can hit a resource docking bay to the engines.

Another thing that the game does best is combat. When you have 100 or so space craft fighting you will understand how breath taking is can become. Zooming right into the combat and watching your ships get torn apart or even rip your enemy apart. With a large amount of ships available you will always have something to build, but you also have a huge online community thay improve upon homeworld 2 alot. Seirra and Relic made Homeworld 2 so that it could be modded upon, there are countless mods for the game all of them very different. You will also be shocked at the shear number in which the ships come. Current classes go from, fighters, corvettes, frigettes, capital ships, utility ships and the unknown ships . ( I wont spoil it)

One thing i might think weakens the play of the Homeworld series has always been its huge learning curve. Granted it was simple for me because i am a veteran to the series but not only is there a huge learning curve there is also an almost unbeatable game. With the original games release people did get annoyed at the sheer difficulty of the game. It took myself over a year to complete the first game and i only got the to the last level.

When you do buy this game i recommend you finding the homeworld 2 rebalancer. It will rebalance all the units and make it much easier for you to play.

To end Homeworld 2 (and its predessesors) are definetly a must buy for any RTS fan, with its beautiful graphics and gripping story this game is a must buy in my eyes.
