American singer John Mayer hascriticised Activision's Guitar Hero, because "it makes it easy foruntalented people to pretend they are good at playing the instrument",says Rolling Stone (via site Entertainment Wise).
The singer-song writer (who to be fairwe've never heard of - apparently he goes out with Jenifer Aniston)claims that no game could ever match the enjoyment of playing a realguitar. You know it's a game, yeah John?
"Guitar Hero wasdevised to bring the guitar-playing experience to the masses withoutthem having to put anything into it," he said.
"And having doneboth, there's nothing like really playing guitar. I mean, what wouldyou rather drive, a Ferrari or one of those amusement-park cars on atrack?"
Some of us can't afford Ferraris though, Johnny boy.
The next instalment in the pretender music series, World Tour adds drums and custom songs into the mix. Read about it here.
I agree how Guitar Hero is probably less fun than a real guitar and it does use less talent and when you really think about it, it is kinda gimmicky, but I too feel that nobody really cares? Some people don't really want to play a real guitar, or they can't afford it. Guitar hero is just like getting a USB steering wheel and pedal set and playing a racing game. Is it the real thing? No way. But it gives the same idea as the real thing and its just a game - its designed to be fun and challenging, not realistic. Besides, everybody knows that when you play GH on easy, you can't possibly play an entire song on 3 notes.
