There points system is a little complicated to get used to at the start but if you stick with it the site is very useful. You can also "cheat" by purchasing points, but if you know anything about computers then you can easily avoid having to do this.
In a communities like that, I wouldn't bother with points systems, but they are excellent for most troubleshooting as you get a quick reply, there are many experts on hand, and you can refer back to the post you made; and reply to them... which is one of the bonuses of forums like that; you can also look at other peoples posts for solutions, and when looking for troubleshooting on google, I often come across " target="_blank">http://www.experts-exchange.com/
