Google AdSense may be looking tolaunch its radio AdSense in Europe next year. It’s reported that thisinitiative will begin in the UK and spread from there.
Having already established itself as an advertising alternative forthe airwaves in the US, Google’s reportedly been in discussion withreps overseas as well. Will the plan of action be the same as it washere in the US? Google purchased a sizable amount of airtime fromClearChannel in order to make good on advertising distribution dealswith the companies it works with for marketing.
Amid rumors of Google purchasing Sirius satellite radio during its downward spiral, and a dismal turnout from the purchase of dMarc Broadcasting, I’m wondering if Google is hoping to fair better in an international market. Could it even work better in the UK?
Larger networks seem to already have established relationships withadvertisers, so that leaves the longtail of businesses looking for waysto get their ads on the radio. That was the hope for radio ads in theUS, but things haven’t quite met expectations. And returning to thetopic of Sirius, it’s also being reported that Google may be restartingtheir deal for selling airtime ads with the satellite radio service.Radio is still around, but it doesn’t seem to be providing much in theway of innovation, and that includes advertising methods.
