After the release of the iphoe or the apple phone as it's offical known will we see the phasing out of the ipod? As people move to a multimedia mobile phones what will be the need for the ipod? even the shuffle?

Will we see the iphone become the ipod?
If you go to http://www.apple.com/iphone/ipod you'll see for yourself how the ipod is intergrated into the iphone.

And the interface is much better than the older ipods.

Nah, there will always be demand for things like the shuffle and also the nano; and the interface is alot more confusing than the simple iPod after asking around, many people didnt understand the iPhone, and I think it will be a thing for techno buffs and people like us haha, and a few people who think its cool and can afford the £300 with a 2 year contract. The iPod is cheaper in many cases and very simple and intuative; anyone can use it.

The iPod will still live for a while yet, and the iPhone wont be all too popular, much like PDAs, but dont get me wrong are an awesome thing, and as iPod videos get, this year, ever more popular, the iPhone might be the same. I wander if you can buy the iPhone with no carrier network, and no contract; that might make things different, but the thing does seem daunting to some at first glance at the website.

yeah, i agree with Sam, there will always be a demand for the iPod.

it will hurt the ipod's sales a little bit though. but until the iPhones start coming with over 30GB of space, people will keep buying ipods i think

I know I won't be getting an iPhone any time soon, so I'll just be sticking to iPods.
