dont worrie about it. It didnt fix a d**n thing. Here is what we have found about Half life 2 and why it crashes a lot.

1. half life 2 runs 20% hoter on GPU,s then doom 3 and most other games. The way half life was made it eats at the cards recorses 24/7.

I tested this to see if what they are saying is corect. My GPU runs 64c with half life 2 runing

my GPU runs 51c with doom 3 runing

my gpu runs 52c with halo

51c with cron of riddick

so what happens to the GPU as it plays half life 2 for a wile?

The heat builds up and up and up and if your core is not able to take the heat. This effects 25% of all GPU,s it crashes or trys to memory dump.

So there recomended fix is to

1 dont over clock
2 get custom cooling
3 run lower res when playing with less features.

this freeking heat problem with half life 2 effects chip sets and CPU,s to.

Is what it dose to me now is it makes me freez for about 2 sec once every hr.

Thanks for the great INFO.

B4 I couldn't play Half-Life 2 with an OC of 2.60GHz but with my 4 512MB DDR Rams, but now when I a using only 2 512MB DDR Ram's I can play it @ 2.65GHz & under with no problems.

Valve is the problem, and they should have fixed this problem.

somthing about it makes the PC run hot and wiled. puts way more starain on the hardware then it shuld. I am able to run it with a 460 core and 1.2 GHz memory clock but i had to up voltage to NB and SB to do it.

Well, Valve needs to resolve this problem with some sort of Patch. Maybe the 64-Bit patch will help.

Yes, I agree. This is why I went shopping for the best cooling solution. As you can see, my system costs an arm & a leg.

But I can obviously afford something like that because I am a CEO of a major PC manufacture & I am 73 years OLD.  :)

CEO? Nice. I am a neurosurgeon as well as a researcher. I make around 250-300K a year. When I am not in surgeries, I am in labs, conducting tests trying to find cures, etc.
