[2:21 PM] There is no Excel Macro support in Numbers.
[2:21 PM] Steve was asked Apple isn't supporting true HD for video uploads to .Mac Web Gallery (i.e. Steve said "higher than DVD," but didn't say HD). Steve replied that HD camcorders aren't true HD, so Apple elected to go with whatever specific resolution is "higher than DVD" being used.
[2:21 PM] Tim Cook said Apple is seeing some traction in the business space with Macs. Didn't offer any details.
[2:16 PM] Steve said Apple is happy with where the iPhone is going, and effectively that his company isn't concerned about those who aren't.
[2:16 PM] Steve said that some folks want mobility, some want desktop computers, and some want both. The unsaid answer was that Apple was content to offer the best of each, and let consumers decide.
Someone else asked about the Mac mini. Tim Cook said it was being updated.
Someone else asked about Google, and whether Apple was working more closely with them. Steve basically gave a long-winded "Yes."
[2:13 PM] CNet asked about mobility. How will iMac evolve in the face of mobility.
[2:12 PM] Tim Cook and Phil Schiller are being invited on stage for an unprecedented Q&A.
[2:11 PM] Priced at $79, didn't catch the ship date.
Man, my iPhone is HOT. Physically hot. I am definitely putting it through a workout.
[2:10 PM] Numbers definitely seems easy to use, and a lot of folks are going to like it. "This completes our productivity suite," said Steve.
[2:07 PM] Jupiter Research is asking how Apple is going to market Apple's seamless integration to the public. Steve said that we, the media, were going to help, but added that customer evangelism is the way Apple gets new customers.
Another chap asked why Apple doesn't do Intel Inside. Steve: "Uhhhh...What can I say. [pause] We like our own stickers better."
Phil Schiller added that when you buy other PCs, you get a confused branding message with lots of logos and offers, and (my wording) crap.

Apple is known for premium priced products, and has a notion of beingfor the elite. Is it your goal to overtake the PC in marketshare? A:I'll tell you what our goal is. Our goal is to make the best personalcomputer in the world and to make products we are proud to sell andrecommend to our family and friends. There are some stuff in theindustry that we wouldn't be proud to ship and recommend. THere arethresholds we can't cross because of who we are, so there is a verysignificant slice of the industry that wants that too. Our products areusually not premium priced, you add the features you have to add tomake them useful, and in some cases they are more expensive than ourproducts. THe difference is we don't offer stripped down, lousyproducts. If you move those aside and compare us to our competitors, wecompare favorably.
... and that was the last question!
I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Thanks all folks - we have a new iMac, iWeb, iLife… a whole refresh of their consumer computing products. We’re being sheparded out now.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Steve was asked if Apple plans on overtaking the PC in market share. Steve answered that Apple wants to make the best computer possible, and they want to do so as cheaply as possible. He said that there are things in the PC world that Apple wouldn’t be proud to ship, and that Apple simply can’t ship those kinds of products being who they are (i.e. Steve being who he is).

Jason Chen: Q: Will there be multi-touch technology in the Mac? A: It makes a lot of sense in the iPhone, but we’re not sure it makes sense in the Mac. We’ll categorize it as a research project for now.
7:26
Jason Chen: Q: There are three video editing solutions, Final Cut Express, Final Cut Pro, and iMovie. How are you going to distinguish this? A: Some people are going to prefer one or the other. We don’t limit iMovie to not compete with the higher applications.

Jason Chen: Q: Why not support HD uploads to .Mac? A: The camcorders right now don’t capture in HD, just slightly less than HD. That’s the resolution we support.
7:23
Jason Chen: Q: Will the iPhone use both EDGE and Wi-Fi to upload pictuers? A: Yes, both.
7:22
Jason Chen: Q: How do you see the iMac doing in business? A: We’re doing well in business. The consumer and education side is much larger, but we’re seeing very much some traction in business as well.
7:21
Jason Chen: Q: Quick question on the iPhone. There’s so much volitility in the company’s stock, watching the iPhone and seeing how it’s doing. A: We think the iPhone is a pretty strong success, and most of the world sees it that way too. We’re really happy with how it’s doing, and most of the mainstream think the same way too.
7:19
Jason Chen: Q: What’s the relationship between Apple and Google/YouTube (judging from the YouTube integration in iLife). A: We like their products. It’s a good relationship. We like working with them.

Jason Chen: Q: How is the Mac Mini doing? And are you updating it? A: We are refreshing the Mac Mini and making it even faster. It’s already in the online store.
7:18
Jason Chen: Q: With most of your line moving to mobile (laptops), where do you see the iMac in the future? A: Desktops are still an important part, because desktops don’t require miniaturization, battery optimization, we can offer bigger and brighter screens and bigger keyboards for sometimes less money than a notebook. Some customers will choose that, some customers will choose both.
7:17
Jason Chen: Q: How thin are the iMacs? A: They’re really thin. You can measure it in the next room in just a few minutes. But they’re appreciably thinner.
7:16
Jason Chen: Q: Why aren’t you putting the Intel Inside stickers on your Macs that have Intel processors? A: We like our own stickers better. We don’t want to make you tear off stickers and junk when we get a computer. Steve: What do we want on our products when we take it out of the box? The answer is nothing.
My favourite answer so far: “why don’t you participate in the Intel Inside programme” Steve: “We like our own stickers better.”
