Parkour (sometimes abbreviated to PK) or l'art du déplacement (English: the art of displacement) is an activity with the aim of moving from one point to another as efficiently and quickly as possible, using principally the abilities of the human body.] It is meant to help one overcome obstacles, which can be anything in the surrounding environment—from branches and rocks to rails and concrete walls—and can be practiced in both rural and urban areas. Parkour practitioners are referred to as traceurs, or traceuses for females.
Mirror's Edge is an upcoming first-person action-adventure video game that is currently in development at Digital Illusions CE.
The game concentrates on movement, and aims to expand and reinvent the sense of movement which is currently lacking from first-person games (in the words of senior producer Owen O'Brien, "to place you in the world and convey the strain and physical contact with the environment"). Although the player character can hold weapons, O'Brien stresses, "Principally, this is an action adventure. We're not positioning this as a shooter - the focus isn't on the gun, it's on the person."
