iVirtuaForums.com now runs on a Debian PHP5 and MySQL 5 dedicatedserver in Guildford, London, UK. It is also in a Carbon Neutralcertified datecentre.

iVirtua mail, advertising and database servers serving come parts ofthe core database are now based in the USA alongside the iVirtuadevelopment servers.

You will notice a noticable speed difference in using the iVirtuaCommunity. We also have three nameservers for reliable wordwidegeographical coverage.

oh, and one last thing: a "miniserver" is a virtual machine and isn't a true dedicated server: http://www.memset.com/dedicated_miniserver.php

Hi,

you seem to have done your research young man.

Good work.  Yes our dedicated server [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dedicated_hosting_service] is run by Memset.

Our server [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_server] is split into three mini servers which are vps powered by Sun Microsystems [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Microsystems] Virtualization Technology [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtualization_Technology]

Sun is a big, big company that provides software [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software] for servers.

You'll still be able to access iVirtua through ivirtuaforums.com, so don't worry about that.

You can see from the sidebar that Memset are close friends of ours.

We had to update our servers because we've been getting quite a lot of traffic [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_traffic], especially from news site.

Our new hosting providers are also carbon neutral [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_neutral] hosting.  I see from your blog that your interested in recycling do you like to discuss green issues? if so we've got a great debates forum which you may like to contribute to.

-William.

I know I haven't made a whole lot of compliments about your site or how you run it.... But I can honestly say now that your site loads a lot faster now, even almost as fast as Mac GUI.

Congrats! Seriously.

Thanks for the compliment. At first I thought the only reason behind joining iVirtua or any other site outside "MacGUI" for that matter was to post negatively, repulsively and provoke trouble - yet you have proven us wrong. Well done.

I must agree, the "Server not found" page we see every other time we visit "MacGUI"  does indeed load much faster than iVirtua. Congrats.

yeah, you wouldn't believe the favors I had to call in to get that.

I told my web host, "Dammit, if nothing else, at least make sure the error pages loads nice and zippy!"

Better than nothing......
