A Sony executive has hinted that its PlayStation division and SonyEricsson divisions may work together in the future, paving the way forthe development of a PSP-cum-phone.

The shape of things to come?
Sony Computer Entertainment’s co-COO, Jim Ryan, speaking to India's Economic Times, saidthat “convergence with the two arms working together is definitelyplausible†and that it would be “hugely intellectually seductive tohave a console-oriented phoneâ€.
He added that “Sony Ericsson and PlayStation would make a strong success story for Sonyâ€.
Ryan’s statement builds on similar comments made by Sony Ericsson’sprevious President, Miles Flint, back in September, when he said that applying the PlayStation brand to a series of mobile phones was a “possible future activityâ€.
A Sony patent application, unveiled back in June, has already hinted at a potential PSP phonedesign. The patent’s sketches show how the screen of a modified PSPcould rotate alongside several added buttons, presumably for call makeand break, etc.
