Can the PlayStation 3 use any third party hard drive? Well, according to PlayStation 3's Safety and Support manual, yes (to an extent). The PlayStation 3 will accept any 2.5" Serial ATA hard disc drive, including products not licensed by Sony. IGN has noted that they are testing this out now and will update everyone on their experiments. If everything turns out to be true, consumers can now look to buy 100GB Fujitsu SATA HDD or even 160GB Seagate SATA HDD’s for their PS3’s.
