Well, it's a 2D, side-scroller shooter. It's quite fun, actually. It's a free download, but, with most free games, there's an ability to register, and get more unlockables. It's the style of Quake and Worms. There's a good selection of weapons (including a chainsaw, which gives and instant kill, lol) and a few powerups. It's pretty addicting too. There's also Internet / LAN battles, as well as single player. You can download extra maps, but there's around 40 included. With seven game modes, and other options, it's definately worth a look (an 11.3MB file).

Games like what? 2D games? You should try it, you'd be surprised at how fun it is . I didn't think it'd be that fun at first, but once I started playing it, I got really good, and it's really fun. Especially when you add on some of the mods. Some of them change the whole game graphically, such as having a mech style character model, and mech style guns, sounds, levels, interfaces, etc.
Battlefield Forgotten Hope! Yeh!
I like freeware/Shareware/Open Source games; because they are free.
Soldat was entirely programmed in Borland Delphi 6. Graphics were made in Paint Shop Pro 7. Sound in Cool Edit 2000.
Details (like components) can be found in the Credits section in the Manual.
I also like Elasto Mania, these games, when you get in to them, are really fun and addicting, and have really cool communities.
Yeh I have quite a few good mods - Desert Combat and Forgotten Hope, for example - which are really good. Desert Combat was really well made for its time - most of the ideas in it were copied for Battlefield 2.
Its and awesome multiplayer game that never loses it's fun... after all it is free! Try it and download it and post what you think... It's addicting and fun!

Soldat actually means soldier in many languages
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldat
Soldat is written and maintained by Polish programmer Michał Marcinkowski, who started working on the game in November, 2001. It is coded in the Delphi programming language using the JEDI libraries. Though Marcinkowski is the primary developer, a small beta team aids in testing prior to new releases.
