According to Chinese business newspaper The Commercial Times, production has already begun on the PlayStation 3 as Sony gears up for the next-gen console's November launch.
The Commercial Times reports that manufacturer Asustek Computer has been producing machines since the start of the month, and that Sony is set to receive a shipment of 200,000 machines by the end of July. More manufacturers are set to deliver shipments in August.
It seems highly likely that Sony would want to begin PS3 production as early as possible, in order to deal with any problems which may occur quickly. However, the company has yet to confirm or deny the Commercial Times' claims.
Believe me the PS3 won't get that far.Xbox 360 will have much better games in these coming months and Wii is a great console. Everybody will buy it because it's just too fun to play with. The PS3 will sell a lot despite to its price, but the power of the PS3 isn't much compared to the power to the 360. So it is hard that the PS3 will win this time.
The PS3 will probably sell alot because it is the predecessor of its mainstream PS2, the Xbox 360 has a big advantage and increased its fanbase with the 360.. and things like GTA and halo 3 will push it further, and too be honest, however amazing and innovative the Wii is, maybe it's just too amazing and innovative... and Ninteno always build it up to be something it wont be; just see the topic Nintendo not working on a Next Gen Console... It will probably go the same way as the GameCube.
I think Sony can do it. However, I'm not sure why they are leaving production up to ASUS, a computer motherboard manufacturer which has had quite a bad reputation for a while, although they have been improving lately with the new nForce5 series chipset.
I think it will be a buiness deal more importantly than choosing the best company in th industry for the product; I doubt they had a tender or anything, or if they did there may have been internal links with them.

What do you think Asus has a bed reputation for?
