i recently turned back ON windows update...d/led some updates for me.....worked fine then it d/led SP2, and i was like..ok good, i lost my cd anyway....i installed it and my comp got errors n crap!!! when i would restart it, windows would come on and everything would freeze, i couldn't do anything BUT move the mouse around....spent another few minutes doing the rapid restart action.....and eventually got into safe mode and uninstalled it.....
anyone get this problem before? or anyone have any ideas on HOW to fix it??? i don't wanna lose ANY of my info on my comp yet...until i get a dvd-rw drive so i can backup all my crap
hrm...what MIXED replies.....i mean in essence..it SHOULD run much better in sp2...but for some reason, my comp just totally turns over when i do run it....really weird...n i'm too lazy to fix it unless it's an easy fix
for those of you that have SP2 problems....this is a list of popular programs that basically fail or malfunction under SP2: aol toolbar photoshop cs ez armor norton antivirus word perfect office zone alarm
and for you 64-bit users....that support no-execute technology....the Data Execution Prevention feature of SP2 will probably prevent most programs from functioning correctly...if you do receive a \"data execution prevention\" problem...here's a link to microsoft's site w/an article regarding it.... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875351
the old AMD cpu's did have suport for SP2 but i thought they fixed that. SP2 works great for me. i use windows XP pro. and all them programs you listed. even zone alarm pro 5.
Ive installed SP2 on my PC and quite a few friends PC's and none have had any problems so far appart from Joint Ops used to crash to desktop but thats been fixed.
Microsoft says its a software compatibility issue. Some programs that install them self?s in the registry tend to have a problem with service pack 2. however it only effects 1% of the PC's in the world.
when i installed it and restarted for the first time WITH it....it froze once windows started.....even after a restart frenzy, it wouldn't work....i tried \"going back to the last settings that worked\" n that didn't help...i got SCARED LIKE CRAP that i lost all my data....but i went in safe mode a few times, and finally got it uninstalled......whew for thAT
