Valve has officially launched its Steam Community, a system akin to Xbox Live where you can check fellow player's stats, plan group events and access the community information from within any Steam game. Also available both in and out of game is voice chat.

The service is free addition to Steam users. Tell us what you think of it in the never-ending comment space below.

I was experiencing some lagging with Steam with the in game community while playing CS:S, and so where many others here:
Steam Community is lagging my CS
CS/CS:S Crash on Launch when the In-Game component is enabled? (official sticky)

Theres even talk of an API

For now we do not have any API to extract infos from our steam community profile, so I make a PHP class to parse the profile page and group page.

This script do not make compete with the great SteamExtras service. It is just another way to get the infos for those, like me, who do not want to rely on an external service to make their scripts.

Requirement :
This script require PHP5 with the DOM extension and XPath support.

What do you think of the new steam?
