With Nintendo's Japanese Wii conference drawing to a close, the deluge of media and raw information is finally flooding the internet. Set for a December 2nd release in Japan at a slightly more-than-expected price of 25000 yen (£113), the console has been confirmed to be released with just one of its nunchuck controllers and, at least in the East, no pack-in title, with WiiSports selling separately at launch for 4800 yen (£22). Famitsu additionally reports that 30 Nintendo and 30 PC Engine/MegaDrive Virtual Console games will be available by the end of the year.
The New York Times broke an embargo to report that the stateside release of the console will come significantly earlier on November 19th at a price of $250, this time including the Wii Sports compilation. As of yet, no European price or date has been publicly confirmed.
Slides of Iwata's presentation, as well as interspersed game clips, can be seen here, as well as an in-depth look at Mii, the console's 3D custom avatar creator, and the console's other various weather and news options and photo applications. A longer compiled look at the console's software line up can be seen here.
The Wii just keeps impressing me! The cheapest next gen console by far now, and it comes with Wii sports, which is a more than welcome addition!
I was already iffy about getting a PS3, but I'm very seriously thinking about replacing it with a Wii, and when the price goes down, adding an Xbox 360 (almost only for Dead Rising alone ) as well.
The only thing about the Wii that I'm concerned of are the games coming out for it. Red Steel and the Legend Of Zelda all look cool, but I think the PS3 and 360 have a better line up.
