First off, sorry if this is the wrong forum. Secondly, I posted the following at a different forum, but it explains everything:

It's possible I may not be on long.. so listen lol.

I got a wireless router. It took me several hours to get it to work. On the router installation CD, it had a free trial of Norton 2004, so I installed it. BIG MISTAKE. When I rebooted my computer, I couldn't log on to the internet. Not even disconnecting the router worked. I spent a total of 7 hours trying to fix it. So I finally called DSL Tech Support. The guy told me to do all these things and nothing worked. We were on the phone for about 2 hours(included in the 7 lol). He finally said, \"I am not sure how to fix it or what it is, but it might be that Norton is not letting you access the internet, but we will send out a $75 modem free of charge.\" I think he said it was a Westell.

So about an hour ago I checked to see if I could connect to the internet, it worked. But I'm not sure if it will be working for much longer.. so don't be surprised if I'm not on here for a while

Also, sorry Wi-Fi buddies lol, I definitely will not be trying to hook up my router any time soon. =/

OH, and I spent an hour cleaning out behind the computer deck and all that, getting rid of no longer needed cords, getting tons of dust out of everywhere, untangling things. It looks a lot better now lol. One problem, when I hooked up my mouse again the left click doesn't work :| ,and the right click hardly works(just from being worn out, it's been like that) So I have to tab a LOT and just use right click. =/

So, sorry everyone if I'm not on for a while. Oh, and I know this sounds silly, but I'm kinda worried if the guy at tech support was offended in anyway. At the end, I said \"thank you\" but we were on the phone for 2 hours. Maybe I should of said it more enthusiastically. He was so polite and professional too. Btw, I think this was in India or somewhere near it, everyone at tech support has Indian accents. I'm thinking that when he got home, he said \"I was on the phone for 2 hours trying to fix this man's computer, and at the end all he said was thank you.\" >_> Yeah, i worry too much

So the problem now is that the mouse doesn't work? I think like you said, it's worn out. Get a cheap new mouse for around 5-10$ and it should work.

Yeah, it's about 8 years old too lol. Ok thanks I'll go get one.

Um, I don't want to keep making threads about the same thing, so..

How do I know which modem is better? The one I have now is an ALCTEL Speed Touch Home, and the one I just got is a Westell 6100. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. :)

EDIT: Today my dad came home with a wireless keyboard and mouse, so yay lol.
