i think i did something like that before messing around with the texture settings in direct X.

Its possible.  It looks like DX is only rendering the polygons.  I don't think that would be constituted as mere artifacts.

Looks more like whole render layers were excluded.

That would probably be the wireframe mode.  I am not familiar with Halo scripting so I'm not certain how to disable it.  You might be able to find something on Google though.
