Not sure if this is the right place to start this thread.
Anyway. The other day I reinstalled XP and turned off a bunch of services, now I'm havering issues with my USB devices, including my iPod, MIDI Keyboard and MIDI pads.
I'm thinking I turned off a service that deals with USB devices. What you guys think?
If I cant fix it I will have to install XP again, as you know that's a pain in the ass.
You probably deleted a lot more than one service, and the USB controller service, Universal USB Service / svchost32.exe (which runs at startup), iPod services and MIDI services.
You probably didn't delete the actual service, probably the startup entry, or at worst, deleted the startup entry.
I future, to manage startup entries and to see if any are enabled or disabled, use theis excellent tool from Sysinternals:
Quote:
See what programs are configured to startup automatically when your system boots and you login. Autoruns also shows you the full list of Registry and file locations where applications can configure auto-start settings.
