Recently, I've been hit by serveral VERY intrusive worms on my secondary computer (that my friend uses to game on when he's over)  One was SO bad that I had to re-install windows.

Just so you guys know, MAKE SURE YOU ARE RUNNING SP2.  I am assuming that the worms snuck in via holes in SP1.  It is behind a router firewall, and has no port forwarding to it.  It does not go on the internet at all except to play CS and to get on AIM.  Nothing was installed or copied to screw it up.  None of the other comptuers on the network (none running extra protection other than SP2) were touched.

Make sure you are all running SP2!

Anyone else have this experience?

No idea.  They just cause popups and start up a fake AV program that finds a virus and asks you to buy their software.

I wonder how many people have fallen for that and bought it...

Well, i doubt it would have helped. Perhaps the only thing that will help is SP2.

On the effected comptuer, all I have is a hardware firewall.

On My computer I have AV and an extra hardware firewall.

Maybe that explains it. ;)

Where do you get an extra hardware firewall? (other than the one that comes with your router)

I just have a hardware firewall from router and the SP2 firewall. I see no need for a software firewall (other than the SP2 one)
