I just played the demo of this game. I only have one word for it: awesome. The graphics are incredable. The AI is pretty good. The only bad thing is that the price tag isn't going down anytime soon.
So yeah, if you guys haven't already, play the demo. I want to get this game, but I have been playing a lot of shooters latly, and I kind of want a change. So I am deciding between this a Guild Wars.
Anyways, Im going to go take a shower and think about this big decision in my life. :P
It almost has the same theme as Command and Conquer Generals Zero: Hour. There are 3 factions: USA, China, and the Middle East. BF2 is made by the same people (EA Games) and is like a FPS version of C&C.

I really want to get it but my graphics card isn't up to notch. It seems incredible though. It really is a tough decision but I would go with BF2 over Guild Wars. Guild Wars gets really boring after awhile so if you really want an mmorpg I'd recommend World of Warcraft since it is really easy to learn and you never run out of things to do.

Yeah... the only problem with WOW is that you have to pay a monthly subscription fee... Which I can't afford. Thats why I chose Guild Wars. And since I am still playing a couple of FPS, its complements it really well.
I'm part of a dev team which is creating a mod for bf2, and I must say modding bf2 is an exciting job. We are adding new weapons, vehicles, teams etc..
Once problem with BF2 is that it has bad netcode, and slow interfaces.. It's also bad to mod atm because EA have not finished the tools that they promised, and the hardware requirements are very steep compared to other games in bf2's league, compared to something like operation flashpoint.
I would like to see a game like BF2 built on HL2/CS:S code.
I have a love/hate relationship with BF2. It has some awesome gameplay, graphics, and physics, but its netcode is so horrible that I can't kill people on foot. I also experience huge lag spikes and stutters if I put the textures up to max.
I give BF2 a 97% for gameplay, and 69% for implementation. The newest patches have made it slightly better, but not up to what they should be for a released game, costing $50, and in its 3rd patch. :(
