Windows Antispyware is a beta 1, go to Microsoft's Download Center, to get the Beta 2 (Windows Defender) which doesnt have the annoying left hand corner notifications and runs much smoother.
Ad-Aware is excellent; get that with AVG Anti-Virus, which is the best Anti-Virus iv'e come across, all are free of course. You can get them with Google Desktop search (I like that alot better than Windows Desktop Search) and the Google Deskbar etc; get them in the Google Pack here: http://pack.google.com/

Too add to my list of Free Programs I posted, there is Audacity, the Open Source Sound/Music Editing program, and also, for now, Microsoft Office 2007 beta, and also Microsoft Windows Vista RC2 was free, but is no longer available dues to a very high volume of downloads from the start, although it is still available through some torrents, just search at www.bittorrent.com although Im not sure if it is legal!
I am using a good free sustem optimiser, there are loads out there, that can also free memory.
TweakUI is great
