Far Cry 2 has been lurking in the background for a while now. Announced last year to little fanfare and only briefly demonstrated at PAX, the sequel to one of the more popular, water-heavy PC shooters of the last few years has been rolling along smoothly and quietly, even if its spin-offs haven't been. However, Ubisoft's Team Rainbow—the team working on the title—has kepta dirty little secret: the game has now been confirmed as arriving onboth the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in addition to the PC.
Ubisoft has just announced that the move, saying that the game"immerses players in an entirely new kind of gaming experience, featuring a custom-made video game engine built from the ground up.Players will discover a true open world gameplay set in one of the mostbeautiful environments in the world, Africa, brought to life byhigh-definition next-gen technology."
While there's little doubt that the game is in good hands with TeamRainbow, it's telling that yet another PC exclusive has moved into themultiplatform realm. Between this and the persistent rumors that Crysis is coming to consoles, there's little that seems sacred to PC gamers anymore.
