my god people you all need to get some better tastes when it comes to music, trans - Just stupid, Heavy Metal - Some werido screaming into a microphone, and hard rock - the worst of the worst. However classical rock is good. I like music which has a good sound to it, i dont have specific genre's which I go for nor do I drool over Artic Monkeys - I mean OMG! they are rubbish, just some spotty guys singing about being depressed and all that crap. Oh and please dont get me started on 'boy bands' seriously if anyone here puts down that they LIKE! Boy Bands then I will personally BAN* you. Oh and and the same applies to people who think TV programes such as Pop Idol (which should be called 'I cant fucking sing so i'll get Simon Cowel and someone called Sharron Osbourne (who thinks she knows a thing about music because her astranged and dopped up husband is Ozzy Osbourne who again cant sing and has a mental problem) to make me a wannabe pop-star (more like plop star).

-
I hope you enjoyed my little rant.

*I will not ban you, I was only saying that in the heat of the moment.

Simon Cowell and the latest of wannabe pop stars (plop-stars) on Pop Idol. You can tell that the dog is a winner. http://forum.ivirtuaforums.com/album_pic.php?pic_id=3

I think you might have missed the point, Metal isn’t Death metal (Which I hate), I like some Metallica, like Enter the Sandman? Great for NFS Most Wanted, yeh I don’t like Boy bands as such, but its a stereotypical term.
You say you don't like picking out individual genres and artists, so why are you picking them out to say how much you hate them and how bad they are in your opinion?

Maybe I share a similar view on the pop Idol thing and Manufactured Pop, like bands that are made by record Companies (band members who don't meet up themselves) where the members of the bands are chosen and put together, they don’t even write the songs, I don’t really like that.

Although the shows are what is called Interactive or "Viewer Participation" like Big
Brother, or same program like "Restoration" where even if you don't have an interest the subject concerned, you do still get drawn in and can't help tuning in and having a quick look.

They are very successful commercially with sponsors, and although its more of a Village hall talent show gone too far, it provides the Broadcasting company with lots of revenue, and is commercially viable, with advertising and all those Premium rate vote lines.

It also brings with it Media Attention, getting in to National News, Newspapers, Magazines and the Internet.

In addition, those participants, I would consider more of Actors than innocent Members of the public who applied to be on a TV show. Very much live Big Brother, they have been through many Auditions, and careful Selection, they have chosen those who will be good on TV, who will conflict (especially with big Brother) and those who will relate with the stereotypes watching the program, e.g. from the same background, ethnicity, lifestyle.

As for the genres/artists I enjoy listening to, see my previous post.

Any more unjustified comments like that, applet, and I will ban you

My preference:  Metal, hard rock \m/, (>_<) ,\m/.  My dad got me into metal / hard-rock when I was little XD.  The first CD I ever owned was Metallica black album.  I still have that CD, and I love it.

Some of my other favorite bands:

Bands (that I can remember):
Disturbed
Mudvayne
System of a Down
Slipknot
Static-X
Black Label Society
Metallica
Korn
Mushroomhead
Pantera
Skindred
Rammstein

That's all that I can remember right now...

yeh going back to what applet said:

"hard rock - the worst of the worst. However classical rock is good."

Is there much difference between hard rock and classical rock?! give me some examples of bands from each, cos i dont think we're thinking about the same thing here.....
If you look up both classical and hard rock on wikipedia, you will find that half the bands mentioned in one article are found in the other article (bands like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Deep Purple)

Probably Rock; blues rock and hard rock. But definitely not limited to, I have an open mind!

Although I've discovered that the bands I like best are bands displaying guitar artistry of some kind; Guns & Roses, Metallica, The Beatles, AC/DC and most of all: Led Zeppelin, the band that got me playing guitar myself!
