In today's gaming industry, especially online. Companies are bringing out word based text games by the truck load, its hard to even keep up with them. Nowadays the everyday gamer wants flashy graphics, good physics, good gamepley and usually want it to be a long game.

These small companies that release game after game spend years in beta version and never really get anywere seem to open up alot. I look on the OMGN forums and see game after game of word based titles being advertised. I say whyyy??? why spend money on the servers or spend countless hours coding them. The first online game i played was fun none the less and i can see the appeal, their addictive and you will spend countless hours on them clicking on page after page really to no effect except ruining your own vision.

The BEST word based game i ever played was Forgotten Planets, was very indepth, i mean i didnt know a word based could have such a steep learning curve. And the good thing about the game was the players had a say in what should be in the game and to this day still do. A game that finally was made by the players, my dream.
But this brings me to my next point, ive played maybe 50 or so games like forgotten planets most, nearly all have been a load of trash. The point im trying to make is that all these games usually only have about 20 players (the rubbish ones that is and those are many)

I'm not only talking about the MMOWB games im talking about games like WoW, Guild Wars and Final Fantasy. These 3 games are the most populiar to say the least i play all three and each has its own appeal except 2 of them have the monthly payment ofcourse. But They are released just as frequently i was shocked to find out a few days ago that there is a stargate MMO coming out. Game like City of heroes ( and villians) crowd the selves that i like to shop on. How ever the few that actually do come out such as dungeons and dragons do have benefits. I still feel put down by there monthly fees though that take 6 or 7 pound off me a month which is embarressing going into the bank and paying off the whole £6 on your card. Even games like Star Wars:Galaxies which arent even worth the trouble since they do cost you and are so buggy upon release the company (in this case Lucas Arts) make patches sometimes gigabytes large. If companies like arena net, blizzard, square enix and even lucas arts spent enough time on there MMO's they would actually be good to play. Personally im sick of the rubbish that is released to fickle gamers, who like myself will buy any game despite what people say "SUCKS!!!!" .

I say listen to the advice people who have played the games tell you, or listen to the guy in your local game retail store. The point im trying to make is that MMO's that are released to soon usually suck. This means most MMO's that are released here and now suck.

Theres only one MMO im looking for and its for the XBOX360 and thats called "Huxley" an online FPS alot like planetside but much better. So to all you Online fans out there look, do some research and ask around before you attempt to buy a game (MMO game).

Yours flamingly

Bah, I don't play any massive online game,  Forgotten Hope (www.fhmod.org) for Battlefield 1942 is the only thing I play online at the moment.

And as I stay away from them, I prevent myself from addiction

I don't play MMOs at all either, for the same reason. MMOs usually require alot of time and dedication - I'd rather play a game whenever I feel like it and because I enjoy it - not because I feel compelled to play it.

And there is more dedication needed than an FPS, and less strategy than an RPG; not to mention... the people who play them
