In March 2005, following months of teasing concept art for an unknown game, Flagship Studios' first title named Hellgate: London was announced via an exclusive article in the computer magazinePC Gamer. The developer has so far released only basic information about the game, although it is now known to be an action role-playing game (RPG) in the same vein as the Diablo games, but with the twist of being played in 3D, primarily from a first-person perspective. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic demon-infested London, following a great battle between demons and humans. The developer is careful to point out that the game experience will be nothing like that of regular first-person shooters, but with much deeper RPG content in the form of e.g. random quests, andwhere a character's combat efficiency is more determined by statisticsthan player reflexes. In addition, the game will feature random levels, nigh unheard of in games of similar perspective and scale. Expectationsfrom the game are high, as earlier games the developers have beeninvolved in, especially titles from Blizzard Entertainment, have becomebest sellers with few exceptions.
Hellgate: London is a computer game under development by Flagship Studios. The design of the game is similar in a number of ways to the Diablo series. This is due to influence of Flagship Studios co-founders including a number of ex-Blizzard North employees, including Diabloseries creators Erich Schaefer and former President David Brevik. Theother founders are Erich's brother Max Schaefer, former Blizzard NorthVice President Bill Roper, and Diablo II producer Kenneth Williams. [4] Hellgate: London is a role-playing game (RPG) which has some first-person shooter (FPS) elements in a post-apocalyptic setting. Gameplay is based heavily on the character's stats. The FPS element of Hellgate: Londonwill be seen in the Hunter faction and will require some skill to use.Soft-aim will be included in the game as a form of aim assistance.

Hellgate: London takes place in 2038, 18 years after the start of a war: Londonhas been invaded by demons from Hell. These particular hellions are atireless lot, and have been looking for a way into our universe for along time. Up until recently, humans have had many champions looking tohold back the flood. Various real-world events are referenced in thebackground of the Hellgate story as averted crossover attempts. The Crusades were actually undertaken to fight back the minions of Hell, as was the charring of London in the great fire to wipe out the Plague. According to the story line, the famous Knights Templarwere the keepers of knowledge on how to battle these demonic forces.Unfortunately, these heroes underwent a charring of their own at thehands of a jealous King Phillip IV,who hated the power they held in the world at large. While the KnightsTemplar survived as an organization, their numbers were severelydiminished and were forced to remain in hiding to stay alive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellgate:_London
During CES 2007,it was announced that the game will support a single player mode aswell as some form of free online gaming, but also a paid online mode, where it is still to be decided exactly which method of payment thatwill be used. [5] Bill Roper, founder and CEO of Flagship Studios, confirmed this in later interviews.[6]
