Here's a slideshow showing some of the devastation and destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina. It is really sad :(

Yeah, it is.  But, thankfully it didn't hit New Orleans straight on like they feared.

We were discussing this today in World History AP in school. New Orleans has one of the most corrupted government systems in the US, and money given to them for city maintenance is taken by the officials for their own purposes. So, things like a good drainage system were not built.

And what happened is that raw sewage (100 years of human feces) is buried under the ground there, and it is in water. Why? Because New Orleans is one of the few cities that were built under sea level. (quite a foolish decision as we see now) So, when they built houses, etc, they just put a floor over the feces & germ filled water and proceed that way. Now, that the water is flooding, all that dirty water is flowing upwards, meaning the water flooding the city is not only dirty, it has about 100 years worth of germs and bacteria from human feces, as well as the chemicals from the chemical plants in the area.

Just thought I'd post this interesting information.  :hmm:

I didn't know that they buried the bodies.  I thought that they have like above-ground grave things.

  O_o

It is also said that since the water is coming from down up, some dead bodies were also floating in the water.

Don?t think the dead will be floating I would say Poo ?Human Feces? then there is a lot down there after 100 years buried underground and now its soaking back up with all the water, yak, it must be murder for them folk.
Been watching BBC 24/7 news a lot, that is one big mess, will take years to be cleaned up and get back to any normal normality.

Normal Normality.  Sounds like you're talking about Raid here.  Alot of redundancy. ;)

Well, Normal Normality is redundant, and so is some types of RAID.  RAID 1 is 'redundant'.
And, plus RAID stands for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks.
Yeah, I know, a little lame.  But, this topic about hurricane destruction needed some light-heartedness.
