After the mini-game-laden Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude failed to make an impression on either gamers or critics, it had been assumed that the venerable Leisure Suit Larryseries was dead in the water. Fans of jokes about erections and lowbrowhumor need not fear, however, today Sierra and Team 17 announced theexistence of a new Leisure Suit Larry game: entitled Box Office Bust.
The minigames are gone, and the press release describes the title as a"3rd person adventure game," which has to be good news for peoplefrustrated by the character's last outing. In this game Larry has totake on Hollywood, while keeping his studio's stars' secrets from beingreleased to the tabloids. What secrets? I'm guessing sexual ones! Thegame play is said to involve "exploration, platforming, racing andpuzzle-solving" in the various missions.
The talent behind the game's script and voice acting is impressive: Allen Covert (Grandma's Boy)will be penning the script, and the game will feature the voices of JayMohr, Dave Attell, Shannon Elizabeth, Carmen Electra, Artie Lange,Patrick Warburton, Jeffrey Tambor, Nikki Cox, Peter Graves, Jane Lynch, and Josh Keaton. The weekly shenanigans of modern Hollywood should giveeveryone involved a good amount of material to work with.
The game is coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and mobiledevices, with no solid release date announced. There will be a trailerreleased Friday, February 15 both on-air on Spike TV's "GameTrailers TVwith Geoff Keighley" and online at GameTrailers.com and other MTVNproperties, including comedycentral.com and spike.com.
