Nintendo has renamed it's Next-gen games console, now to be called 'wii' prononced 'We'
The new name, pronounced "we", has been chosen to show "that the new console is for everyone", according to Nintendo.
"Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii," reads the announcement on the company's website.

Its not exactly changing its name, revolution was a codename, like Windows Vista was Windows Longhorn. I don't think its too catchy, and isnt and doesnt roll off the tounge like Xbox 360 (or 360) or even PS3, you just have to say to yourself "Lets go and play on the Wii"
It's official -- Nintendo has (as witnessed, for the disbelievers, at revolution.nintendo.com and on the company's Japanese site), rebranded their Revolution "Wii" -- so called, says the announcement, for its simplicity in any language, its "distinctive 'ii' spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play," and the name's ability to set it apart from the crowd.
Along with the name change, Nintendo has also reiterated the capabilities of its hardware, including its self-loading media bay used for new Wii discs, legacy GameCube discs and, with the help of an optional attachment, standard DVD movies and media, plus an SD card port to expand the Wii's internal memory.
And so there you have it. Let us know your first impressions through the 'Comments' below.
I don't get why they should call it Wii? I thought Revolution was a decent enough name. It was rememberable and catchy, yet Wii makes it sound a little odd.
I think Nintendo is going a bit downhill, in the time of the Nintendo 64 and the Sony Playstation Nintendo was a bit more advanced than Playstation but Playstation was alot more popular. But then when 3rd gen consoles came out, Nintendo made big mistakes. Their console seemed to have the least graphics and their games were aimed at a younger generation. I think Nintendo need to get with the times, not make their games for older people, but a wider range of people. Maybe that way more people would be interested and they could get better.
