In dueling interviews published in their native regions, both company president Satoru Iwata and Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed Nintendo's dedication to launch the Revolution in 2006.
Speaking to Japanese newspaper Sankei Shimbun, Iwata gave no specific mention of a release date, but emphasized the desire to have the console ready for the 2006 holidays. "We have no plans to miss out on the year-end sales battle," said Iwata, according to a GameSpot translation, "As for North America, we need to release it by Thanksgiving, or otherwise we won't receive support from the retail industry. So the Revolution will be released prior to that period."
