I admit that this got a little out of hand and both of us were out of line, but I must say this for Justins sake. Don't waste your money on another 6800GT. A 7800GTX would perform better and be cheaper. That is a fact and I really wish Predator did not delete the posts that were made where I proved this.

Predator did post one link showing the 7800GTX behind 2x 6800GTs, however, this was in 3DMark @ 1024x768. At 1024x768 it does not show the real potential of the 7800GTX. So, when looking at benchmarks take this into account and you will see that I am correct.

So, the bottom line is that a single 7800GTX would be a much better buy. Even Predator agreed after I proved it. However, he deleted those posts.

I have one more thing to say.

The reason 1 7800GTX is worthit over 2 6800GT's is the simple fact of futureproof.

The G70 architecture is much more advanced than previous versions (not by a lot, but there is a rift there). The G70 architecture will still dominate games in the future more than 2 6800GT's.

6800GT has 16 pipelines, the 7800GTX has 24. The 7800GTX also has many other features like HDR, CineFX, and Radiosity which leave the 6800's in the dust.

A lot about credibility ? I make more a year then you ever will in your life time. I build more uber PC,s then you EVER will in your life time.

heck the list goes on and on . Your just a second rate kid.

That does not prove anything at all and does not contribute to the discussion. If you actually want to continue with the discussion show some benchmarks proving your point, rather then replying with offensive and unnecessary comments.

I admit that I was out of line too, but that all stops now. If you also stop we can continue this discussion. If you continue with the unnecessary and offensive comments this topic will most likely be closed and you will be warned.

It's not only for future-proofing. It is because the 7800GTX performs better. It may not at low resolutions, but nobody buys a 7800GTx or goes with SLI to play at low resolutions. The higher the resolutions the bigger the gap between the two there is. When looking at video card you neeed to compare real-world situations.

SLI is a complete waste of money, unless you can afford dual 7800GTs/GTXs. Otherwise you would be much better off buying a single card that would actually be cheaper and perform better.

Ok, you want some benchmarks?  here you go.
The 6800GT SLI is just about evenly split with the 7800GTX, I'd say with a slight edge to the 6800GT SLI.

Correct, so the 7800GTX is still cheaper and more advanced than 2 6800GT's in SLI.

Geez you guys didn't have to fight over this....

Anyways, after I saw this post, I'm kind of putting off buying a new 6800GT. Perhaps I will invest in a 7800GTX?

If so, which brand do you recommend?

eVGA, BFG, Leadtek

Personally, the Leadtek is the best choice (although it is not overclocked) because it has a MASSIVE copper heatsink, great software bundle (Prince of Persia: Warrior Within & Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory), and excellent overclocking.

However, eVGA & BFG have the stock overclocked 7800GTX's which are at 490/1300.

A 7800GTX is definitely the better buy. It offers mostly comparable performance and new feutures like TAA, second rev Pure Video, and for the most part better performance above 16X12.

As for brand, if you look at price/performance the XFX cards are hard to beat, however, I have heard a lot of bad things about their customer support. So, I would do some research on this.

Price, performance and software bundle should be your primary considerations when choosing what to buy.

That's why I recommended Leadtek.

But the only drawback is that Leadtek has only a 3-year warranty. (I think)

Might want to check on that.

Big News!

My company just struck up on a huge business deal, for which I am responsible for managing. If we can pull it through, I'll be getting a *huge* paycheck. :D And with that, I might buy 2 7800GTX's....

Hey Justin, I just got news from your boss that you'll get a big enough paycheck to get me a pair of them, too. :D

If I had two 7800GTXs coming, I'd have no problem buying some other new components ;)
