Those of you keenly awaiting Edge's Top 100 Games special edition (yes, it's still in the works, and is set to appear next year) will be interested to learn of three similarly inspired endeavours dedicated to chronicling Man's greatest game-making achievements.
The first, entitled Game On!: From Pong to Oblivion -- The Greatest Video Games of All Time, is a 256-page volume written by former Edge staffers David McCarthy and Ste Curran together with veteran game journo Simon Byron.
The second is game fan Matt Fox's The Video Games Guide, which self-consciously apes established film guides in cramming into its 592 pages short reviews of over a thousand games (compared to Game On's essay-like entries on a 'definitive' 50).
