Likewise, in most instances, formatting your platters wouldn't do much good either as most *real* agencies have government only software that will recover just about everything on a formatted platter (yes, even a low level format). I know that I had to use something similiar in the Military when I handled secure classified information. (I was a communications specialist with a T-Secret clearance)
I'm sure if you stuck a really powerful magnet up to your drive, you might be able to do enough damage where even government software can't recover anything.

Yeah, and if you set it on fire then set it on fire again( the HD or the whole computer), but who would that and I am sure if you really brave crack the government computer, but you would be not smart. I advice to not to that, as if you get caught you will like be really in big trouble.

I don't think the drive needs to work for them to recover data, it just has to have the platter still. I have seen a news show showing them taking a sliced and wrinkled floppy disk and getting data off of it by putting it onto other floppies in peices. !!
Physical damage to the drive would work, but it would really have to destroy the platters. If there is any spot left that isn't physically destroyed, then data can be obtained from it.
I've heard that a sledgehammer coupled with hydrochloric acid afterwards might work.
A microwave wouldn't work because the waves would just be reflected back to the microwave itself and destroy it. This is why metal objects shouldn't be placed in a microwave. Sometimes you'll even get electrical arcs between the metal and the metal lining the microwave. Microwaves work by heating up water, which absorbs the waves and subsequently gecomes heated. Food contains lots of water and moisture. Metal does not.

Well, a lot of stuff has happened lately. To keep it short, I got kicked out of the school and my lawyer didn't show up in court yesterday. The court date is next week now.
Also, just so you guys know, the school I got kicked out of is not my real school. Our school allows students to take a program of their choosing at another school. I took Business Computer Applications there. This was in addition to the classes I took at my normal High School.
Since I got kicked out of that school my schedule is kind of messed up. I only have 5 periods and then I come home from school. I only go to school for about 4 hours. I even have a study hall in there. What really sucks is that I cannot use a computer at my school without supervision. I doubt I could fight getting kicked out of the other school, but do you guys think we could fight this?
I sure hope you can, man. That really sucks. I don't know enough about the legal system in.... (what state are you in?) to provide any advice. I'll keep my eyes and ears peeled, though.

Wait, you were expelled? Is there any way you can come back? Perhaps you can send your sincerest apologies, and do some community service or whatnot.

I had planned on writing a letter to the school apologizing.
Also, again, this is not my normal high school. I basically just got kicked out of a computer program that I went to a different school for. I can still go to my normal school. However, I am not allowed to use the computers without supervision. This basically means I cannot take computer classes. This really sucks since I heard we were supposed to have a C++ class next year. We are going to try to fight this if we can. Since it is a bit ridicilous.

I think you need to find out if you're getting any charges against you legally first. Without that knowledge, there isn't much you can do. A Judge usually sets the terms of your punishment, IE: apology letters, supervised computer use for X amount of time, community service, etc. Do you have a court date yet, not just disposition, but an actual hearing?
As I've said before, if you plan on fighting this, KNOW your state's laws inside and out. Honestly, you should be asking your attorney all of these questions. Did your parents hire him or is he a public defender? The fact that he didn't even show up for disposition tells me that it's probably a public defender. This is what your atttorney is there for. To maintain a battle plan and tell you your best options. Right now, he needs to be your best friend.

wouldent the lawyer get in big trouble for not showing up i mean in washington if you get jury duty you basicly have to respond and show up if your a citizen and if you dont you goto jail! if they make citizens go through that they should make lawyers have it just as bad lol!
