To add further, the Neo 2 Platinum motherboard (which MillZZ has) does not have 2 PCI-Express ports for SLI, nor even 1 PCI-Express port because the board has AGP 8x. So, he would have to anyways upgrade his motherboard.

The 7800GT doesn't come in AGP, does it?

SLi mode is not a waste of money, at this point in time it wont offer a significant increase for the money you pay. But that is because it is not mainstream YET! However the same can be said for the dual core CPUs for that matter. They do not offer any benefit in games at the minute either. But when developers use the potential it will be a huge boost to games.

Exactly.  I couldn't have said it better.  It's all in the utilization.

actually...i guess i forgot to change my signature? i don't have the neo2 platinum board, and my 6800gt is pci-e...and i guess disregard the stepup program now, it friggin expired early last week!! dang...but i think that maybe if a 7800gt would give me better performance IF i was able to sell my 6800gt, but would i be able to sell it for a reasonable price? i bought the card for $349.99, and i am not an avid ebay user so 1st...would ppl buy it? 2nd...would i sell it for a price that's reasonable? cuz if i can't...then buying the 2nd 6800gt would probably be a better idea right?

signature changed btw

edit: also, what about the 7800gt CO, with the copper heatsink? is it really worth it for the price:performance?

You will be able to sell your 6800GT for about 280$. Looks like the current 7800GT's cost as much as your 6800GT back then.

I'd go with one 7800GT.  Two 6800GTs will cost as much, if not more and offer roughly equivalent performance depending on the game.

And only go with SLI if you have two top-end cards of the current generation.  Otherwise you'll be able to get a single card that will perform as well for probably less.

Agreed.  512MB will give you a negligible increase over 256MB and cost you a heck of a lot more.

And the 7800GT is still more advanced than the 6800GT, especially since it has more pipelines.

well if i wait for a better one...i don't want to spend like 500bucks on the newest technology....i don't even wanna spend that much right now...the 7800gt is at 350, and if i sell mine for like 250, it's an extra 100....which i might be able to spare

You could get the 3DFuzion 7800 GT at TigerDirect for $300. I think the reason it is this cheap is the fact that it only has a one year warranty.

Here's the link to that.  That is a really good deal.  But, I've never heard of that company before, so i'd be careful.  Especially with just a 1 year warranty.
