hey guys i need your help. lately ive been really trying to decide to either go for an Xbox360 or new computer. Now if i had a limitless budget i would get a super computer and an Xbox360. but i dont and the Xbox 360 looks like the best for its money great graphics free xbox live silver, but then theres other things the computers do that xbox cant like, photoshop, flash programming, ect. in a computer theres more things it can run but it's more expensive and when i'll run games the graphics will be better on the xbox 360 and run better than on the computer in games... im leaning towards a new computer though

...an Xbox360 can play games. So, if you really aren't into the function perspective of a computer (beyond chatting and websurfing), by all means, get the 360. Otherwise, the functionality of a computer will more than pay for itself.
yeah i think im am going computer all the way man. i mean if i was just an avergae joe i'd get the console but console's dont have the functionallity i need.
PC graphics are still equivalent to or greater than console graphics.
Not for $400 they aren't. I imagine you could build a Sempron or Celeron D powered PC with an entry-level graphics card (6600 GT or X800 GT) for $400, and that PC wouldn't come close to touching the graphical capabilities of the Xbox360.
Anandtech took apart both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and has done extensive research on both. The Xbox 360 has a more powerful processor than any current day PC has, and it's graphics processor was estimated to have the graphics punch of a 24-pipeline R480-series graphics chip (X800 XL).
The Xbox 360 is a far better gaming machine than all but the post-$1,000 PC with SLI... or the post-$1,000 PC with one 7800 GTX or X1800 XT. I hate SLI. Irregardless, I find that the Xbox 360 will retain this gaming supremacy... probably... for the better part of a year. After that, PC's will once again trump Xbox 360's as being child's play.

For the price, yes. But, then with a 1,000$ PC, you can do much more than with a 400$ XBOX360.
Personally, I am waiting for the PlayStation 3, which is powered by 2 7800GTX's.

Playstation 3 is going to be soo expensive... the \"next generation console\" war was over when Sony decided to go with the Cell processor. Dumbest business decision.... EVAR.
Let's not get started on business decisions, afterall, at least Sony knows how to sell consoles. Xbox loses $400(+?) per console they sell, and are -$2billion in the xbox department.. that's profit if you ever saw it. The second factor is that the xbox360 has fatal design flaws that anyone can see from a mile off, and the third factor being it won't be around after a few years, as it's simply not viable to lose so much money (ms thinks they will make it back with live subscriptions, but they havn't realised it's impossible from a business point of view yet.)

Well, it's actually $125 per console, but yes, they are still at a loss.

well when you think about upfront they may be losing money but for most games that get sold, xbox or not microsoft makes money. because the people who make the games are probly using windows xp, plus visual studio ect.

Well, when I last looked it was $400. And there are lots of reports saying the 360 losses $400+ per console.
The quote: \"You're BOTH wrong! It's $126! AH HA HA HA HA HAAAA!!!\" has met several qutas regarding sarcasm: 1. It laughs hysterically, and includes at least one too many exclamtion points (!). 2. It identifies two people who were arguing, and makes fun of both of them, despite being quite close to one of the statements 3. It provides no sources or explainations. 4. It is quite rude, and comes from an otherwise quite polite poster.
Sarcasm Dector labels this quote highly sarcastic.
