Do you consider copyright laws (software or music, movies, etc.) when using computers at home?
As a System Administrator, I disencourage and do not allow any kind of mp3s or any other software specified on the company policy.
But at home, there's no System Administrator. So, do you find immoral downloading music or software you were not intended to?
I find myself running away from this kind of stuff. Almost all the programs I use are open-source/freeware. No need to buy expensive software nor to crack them.
But when it comes to music... Emule's full of goods and hard-to-find stuff.
So, do you consider copyright laws when at home? I'd like to know about it.
In general I am not in favor of downloading illegal mp3's as I used to work for a record company and I have seen the damage that illegal downloads can do to no established artists.
The only mp3's I have on my computer I have either bought the original CD of or i've gotten from the bands website or itunes.
i dont download illegal music or films, firstly because I am studying in the creative sectors and it's pretty stupid of myself to kill the industry to get into :p
One thing that I did do 'illegally' was get a pirate copy of windows xp - only because my laptop didn't come with an xp installation CD - but i still used my product key - so i suppose that's not really illegal, i do know alot of people who download illegal music and applications and am sure a vast majority of the people on this forum pirate software.
