yes but our question was would 2 Maxtor with 16 meg cash each on raid 0 beet out raptors on raid 0. Would the extra bandwidth make a difference with 7200 rpms.

I think the Raptors will win in a Raid 0 Setup. 10,000 RPM sure make a difference.
There are reveiws showing Raptors beating 15,000 RPM SCSI drives.

i have benched my raptors next to my maxtor 250 gig with 8 meg cash just for fun. I get a 25 % increase in load times and a 27% increase in read and write times.

All we now need is SATA300 200GB & up HD's with 16MB buffer cache w/ 10,000 RPM & multiple arm extensions to find info faster in the drive.  :)

Its ridicules that HD companies are still using 7200RPM.
This is obviously the bottleneck for our systems. They need to wake up  <_<

Well, let's hope AMD & Intel start pushing these companies.
I would love to start my own HD comapny. I would design & produce  a SATA2, 15,000RPM w/ 24MB buffer cache HD for the everyday home user users. :)

I would love to see the CEO's faces of WD, Hitachi, Maxtor & Sygate :o      go ahead pick one ;)

Yes, I agree.
It would be nice for HD companies to start keeping up the pace with computer technology.

WD Raptor has a 150MHz Bus speed w/ 8MB Buffer cache @ 10,000 RPM

Maxtor has a 150MHz Bus speed w/ 16MB Buffer cache @ 7200 RPM

For some reason the Maxtor's Bus runs faster than WD's bus even though they are the same speed.

The Raptors are winners here, but WD's mistake was that they didn not come out with a 16MB cache for there super fast Raptors.
