That doesnt look like it came from google. I personally think its a fake but you never know.

The GUI does suck though

Although it kinda seems like they would be creating an OS

They have made a chat program, a desktop searching program, Google mail is POP3 compatible, a photo manager program, and there will be more, much much more, just look in the google labs page.

So i do think they may be up to something but thats is not google os that looks more like someone trying to skin windows

oh and at the very bottom of there labs page where it says are you passionate these things...mayby you should work for google area \" ? operating systems\" is one of the things now why would you need to be passionate about those if they werent planning it

I wouldn't be surprised if Google cracked out an operating system within the next few years, but the screenshot mentioned seems kiddish, flashy, and very unprofessional.  I would expect something more similar to a Linux distro or Mac OSX.  I am not saying that it is fake, just that I am hoping for a new GUI.

\"More similar to a linux distro\"

Please explain what you mean, because all linux distrobutions are differently presented. You cannot generalise linux distrobutions.

What I meant was, it would have a very unique and attractive GUI, similar to that of several Linux distros.  I would expect it's own desktop enviroment, a mixture of Linux (for the advanced users), Mac OSX (for eye-candy), and Windows (for simplicity).  It would take the best of the bests.

I hope that clears it up.  ;)

I don't agree with the professionality aspect of MacOSX. I'd say the \"eye candy\" should come from OSX. :)

Yeah, i think they would.  They're not into looks much, at least that's how it appears.

That's not the impression I get when using services such as Gmail.  :S

Really look at Gmail.  Is there any fancy stuff? (other than the Gmail logo)
They just have their stuff nice and plain.  I like it that way, I was just commenting how they weren't into alot of flashy graphics.

According to a Chinese website

Ok, how credible is that?

I think that if Google allowed news of an impending GoogOS to leak, it would have hit more than one Chinese website.  I think I'm partial to agreeing with whoever said that it looks like someone just skinned Windows.

Would google really call their root folder \"Groot\"?  It looks much too simplistic for a viable working OS.

Until I see/hear more from a credible source, I'm chalking this one up in the \"fake\" column.
