And the viral marketing has begun. Apparently, several “Wanted” posters have been spotted in New York bearing the face of GTA IV protagonist, Niko Bellic. The poster, issued by the Liberty City Police Department, warns that Bellic is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon and suggests that he be shot on sight. Something tells me this won’t be the last of the game’s viral marketing before it sees release.
The poster warns that Bellic is "wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting at a nightclub in the Hove Beach area of Broker" explaining that the perpetrator is of eastern European descent "which narrows it down to about 95% of the Hove Beach community." The poster jokes "Even we can't arrest that many foreigners" and suggests that Bellic be shot on sight.
The GTA IV poster also features an e-mail address and web site for the Liberty City Police Department. While the site isn't currently up, the e-mail auto responder is. The response is after the jump.
The gang at PlayStation Universe have pics of the newly hand-painted Grand Theft Auto IV billboard that New Yorkers will enjoy for the next few months. The candy loving cartoon whore goodness replaces a simple, black GTA IV logo and is sure to be a hit with parents and nuns. Work in progress pics and the location, should you want to admire it on your trip to the Big Apple, are available at the link below. Regular updates of a GTA 4 billboard were also posted over at
