Facing the challenge of converting new users to its latest operating system, Windows Vista, Microsoft is placing its bets on the ace card that's been responsible for its console successes and announced that the upcoming PC port of Halo 2 will run exclusively on Vista.
Though there's no signs so far of features unique to Vista that Halo 2 will utilize, or enhancements to the game itself (though it will ship with the optional map packs offered to Xbox players last year), leaving one to wonder just how mutually beneficial the relationship might be: without significant upgrades, will users clamor to purchase an entirely new operating system for what will be a two year old port at the time Vista is expected to be released? And, of course, it's hard not to feel a pang at Bungie's transition from Mac stalwart to Windows poster-boy.
I think that Microsoft may have made a bad move by making the pc version of HALO2 for Vista Only. I am sure that alot of people probably won't be switching to vista right away or at all for that matter. considering microsofts track record and also security flaws and numorous patching. who is to know if vista will be just as problematic as the now 4 year old windows xp system was for some people?
Just like when they released Halo 2 on Xbox only, they wanted everyone to buy an Xbox, and now they want everone to get Vista? Did I mention you need a 4.0Ghz PC to run it?
