I believe games are fine...parents need to use more discretion before letting their children buy certain genre of games.

i was in early middle school when i started playing the FIRST doom...and i was also playing the first rainbow six and a bunch of other shooting games, etc.... i didn't turn out to be a violent-crazy little bastard lol..it's all about how your raised and how messed up or not messed up you are in your head if these "video games" will have an effect on you, i really don't think that people who play a certain violent game will have a tendency to be more violent or obscene...just my opinion but yah i agree that the parents should be screening these games because i know of plenty of stores that don't look at the rating before selling a game to an "underage" child

Well me being in the military, I've played my share of shooter, flight sim games and done the real thing.  But it's a retarded argument that will continue to go on and on.  I mean just because I play violent games doesn't make me any more violent, it's the person's mental state that determines how "violent", or more "violent" he or she may become.

Games are geting more violent for sure.  But that's why they have ratings.  If only retailers and parents upheld them...

the way i see it, games aren't violent enough. the rated mature aren't violent enough, the ones below that should stay the way they are.  the thing that makes kids more influenced by violence in games is how the are treated in their life... or at least thats the way it is for me. my life sucks and everyone hates me, thus violence makes me happy. video games satisfy that need for me though so it doesn't carry over into my life. if i see 2 teenagers fighting i'll stop it. but if i see 2 teenagers in a game fighting, ill pull out an AK-47 or a 6 foot sword and go nuts.
