I know you saw... The Burger King guy in fight night... The Oakley sunglasses in GRAW... The 7up failed drink dnl in SSX 3.....the list goes on and on and it keeps getting worse and more in your face. And games are now costing $60 for Xbox 360! Why are they $60? Because the game industry decided they could force us to pay $60 and that is the only real reason. And now they are filled with ads.

So I raise the scary question, what is there to stop the average gamer from supporting pirates? The game companies are now making even bigger profits by jacking up the price when they didn't have to and they have fat checks from all these companies that are advertising in their games. Because of in game advertising the artists and designers get paid whether the games sell or not. I don't think any gamer like advertising in games or higher prices, but is there anything we can do about it? I'm sure any industry person will say, hey, if you don't like the Burger King guy in Fight Night 3 and the higher price don't buy the game. But I want to play the game!!! Without the bombardment of advertising and the jacked up price! Is that really the only way to oppose in game advertising and higher prices? Maybe game pirating offers another way? Buy Psychonauts because it is awesome; download Pirated Fight Night 3 in protest of the terrible in game advertising and the unneeded higher price? Or maybe we just have shut our eyes and take it as consumers?

I'm not really sure what to do anymore but I thought this would be an interesting topic for discussion on the forum. Feel free to post your thoughts

I haven't really played alot of games that have alot of advertising in them But I do have to agree with what sam says. Well at some point advertising is needed to help keep costs down for services such as blizzards free battlenet. Other times it can be alittle too much. I don't know what else to say here but advertisements make some games more realistic such as some of the signs and stores in gta games.

They advertise, so the game will check people's attention
it will catch

  • Non gamers attention
  • Hardcore gamers attention
  • Causal gamers attention
  • Fanboys

Alot of people don't hype up games like you do, I mean we in the forum know much about ps3, e3, nintendo, upcoming games. Than normal people.
I was at GameStation. Some guy was chatting to some man at the counter, asking about the ps3 price and release date. Now we all know about that!
My friend form MSN, those kind of I love playstation than any other console. We know ps2 is popular in UK. He doesn't even know the price and release date for ps3, he only knows it will be released 2006.

I dunno why games prices are becomin higher, they just want our money.
7th gen games now cost £50- $60 while 6th gen games cost £40-$50.
