Nintendo is set to release an add-on that will turn your Nintendo DS into a full fledged MP3 player. The add-on apparently is set for a European release only on December 8th, the same day the Wii is set to be release for that region (Well, Dec. 7th for Italy). The twist here is that the add-on will not only be for your Nintendo DS, it will also be compatible with your Game Boy Advance SP and Game Boy Micro as well. The device will be able to just slide into the cartridge slot. So no, you won’t be able to play games and listen to MP3s at the same time.

The press release kind of alludes to a 512 MB SD card being included but it doesn’t say for sure. If it does come included, more tech savy people won’t care. They’ll probably use their own SD cards or go out and purchase one with larger capacity since they’re getting cheaper by the second. Either way, an included 512 MB SD card would be a good way to start for most people. The device will cost around £20 which my fuzzy math and lack of knowledge about international exchange rates translates to around $40-$300, if this were to ever be released stateside. The full press release after the jump:
aww that would be awesome if it came to the USA. I belive someone made a radio thing for the old gameboy at one time. um wait a minute there are 2 slots on the DS though a gba slot and the DS game slot. It might be possible to still play games with it in though.
