It is an understood fact that ATI cards perform better in games which DirectX is utilized (Half Life 2), while NVIDIA cards perform better in OpenGL games (Doom 3).
Now, back on topic to R520 and G70.

7800GTX & X1800 XT are almost Tied in DOOM 3 O_o WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote: - ATI Radeon X1800 XT achieved a performance similar to nVidia GeForce 7800 GT. - ATI Radeon X1800 XT was beaten by XFX GeForce 7800 GTX, which was 6.60% faster and MSI GeForce 7800 GTX, which was 5.41% faster. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/228/8[/span]
Now it's safe to say that if you OC the 7800GT & X, you will get a load of increased performance. I like the fact that they have 20 & 24 pipes.
Evesham has a cracking PC in the Axis Blaze 1800XL - reviewed by PC Pro - paper version. It is so new, you won't even find it on Evesham's or PC Pro's website. It comes with a Non-master Gecube X1800XL 256MB card, a 21.3-inch NEC TFT, a Crossfire Compatible MSI motherboard, an Athlon X2 4400+ CPU and much more. Even with pre-release/beta drivers, the single card was able to tear a Dual 7800GTX from a Dell Dimension XPS600 - 55 fps vs 70 fps while costing ?1200 less.
The Single [span style='color:red']X1800 XL beating 2 x 7800GTX's out of the water?!? Well, this is true & it also further supports the fact that AMD CPU's are \"KINK\" when it comes to Video Games ;)[/span]

That proves that Intel SLI does not perform as well as AMD SLI. However, it does not prove that ATI's X1800's are superior to NVIDIA's 7800's. Personally, I think it is useless to compare an X1800 on an AMD system against SLI on an Intel system. The X1800 was paired with a dual core X2, while the Dell was powered by what? A Pentium D or a Prescott which would be shattered by the force of the processor itself?
We need results from end users. ATI used to say these same things with the X800XT, guaranteeing 40% more performance than the 6800 Ultra, and we all know how much BS that was.
I'll wait for hardcore enthusiasts like PCGEEK to buy a pair of X1800's and then test them against 7800GTX's in SLI.

This is why I presented the link above. To further support that # 1 CPU's \"DO\" play a big role in Videogames & # 2 that AMD is the best for Videogames ;)
GPU core rocking at 1.003 MHz, while memory run happily at 940.5 MHz DDR (1.89 GHz). 60 gigs per second of memory bandwidth on a single board. Can you say... OMG?
