First off the whole realse two separate packages thing, the one that works and the one for idoits. Okay this really shouldn't affect how I feel about the system, but it was a piss off when announced.
The 20 Gig hard drive. If you are supposed to use the 360 as your entertainment system with all of your music and video on it, you can't have much of either as 20 Gigs is nothing if you want video of the quality you want to watch on your TV.
The lack of High Def. The promised it and it wasn't delivered. There is talk of the next set of 360s comign out with HDDVD. Basically this means that everyone that bought the original system when it came out is now screwed and has to buy a new system if they want that support.
The fact that it's not truely backwards compatable. To play xbox games you must have xbox live, which means you console must be networked. Then you have to download a patch for each game you want to play (again taking up that hard drive space). Also there are still games out that the 360 doesn't support.
The titles: so far nothing that has been released has looked or played that great. At this point I don't think there is enough support out there. I am hoping this will change but really I buy my consoles for the games. The only reason I own all three is due to exlusive titles like Metroid and Zelda for the 'cube, KotoR and Jade Empire for the Xbox and Final Fantasy for the PS2 (to name a few).
The price. Why are 360 games more then other games? More then PC games, that makes no sense. It's just based on marketing and the 'newness factor', it has nothing to do with them being better games or having better graphics (then P2S yes, PS no).
I could probably go on quite a bit more. But those are my main reasons for not being impressed. Biggest thing that will probably make me pick one up eventually is when the price drops from the 'launch' pricing. Though I figure that won't be until November with the PS3 launches (or soon after).
So far I have passed on the 360, not to impressed by it. They need to fix a few issues before I consider one, and by then my savings will probably be marked for a PS3.
Hooked up in my basement currently is a PS2, a NES, an Xbox, a Gamecube. Packed up right now is my N64. System I regret selling the most: Sega Genisis (though it did let me buy a PS1).
Also scattered around the basement are 2 original gameboys, a gameboy colour, 3 gameboy advances, an Atari Lynx and a Sega Game Gear.
Still not sure how I got invited to this site, Sam added me to messenger for some reason then I started getting iVirtua spam. I am a gamer so figured why not sign up.
I'm into games, any type of game. Card games, board game, dice games, roleplaying games, pc games, console games, puzzel games, tabletop games, wargamers, etc.
I run a website and associated forum dedicated to gaming (of all kinds mentioned above) with a focus on the Windsor Ontario Canada area.
I am also a beer aficianado and work in Quality in the Logistics Industry.
To my knowledge they never did a Sims 2 online. I don't even know if the origianl is still up. It was very buggy at release and they economy just didn't work, which is why I never picked it up.
I have heard awesome things about Eve by players just starting into it, only to hear it sucks by the same people a couple months later. Due to this I haven't even considered it.
Yeah thought this was a compairison for current consoles.
IMO the PS2 is better for people who prefer to play solo games and is perfect for it. The Xbox is better for people that like online competition and is perfect for that.
There are cons and pros for both systems, the biggest thing xbox can't compare with though is the selection of PS and PS2 games out there.
Personally I just did the rational thing and bought both of them.
Also play/played:
NeverwinterNights, cosidered by most to be the first MMO.
The Realm
Ultima Online
FFXI (Gilvanblight Lakshmi server)
Guild Wars (Gilvan Blight)
Dungeons and Dragons Online (just did the beta)
The Sims Online (again just beta).
