Recently, Microsoft has been battling Akamai Internet over bandwidth restrictions. They recently lost the battle as Akamai have changed one of their systems that handles bandwidth, which caused the massive hold up of Microsoft's main websites (leaving them down for 87 hours).
As someone that has worked closely with Akamai for many years, i have been given a cache of the page that was generated after the Microsoft website went down.
Here is the page, i can't actually give you a link because you have to login to access the directory.
Well I seem to remember one of the reasons the XBOX flopped in the land of the rising sun the last time around was because it just cost too much. If that's the same for all the current, rather more pricey consoles, then I think they japanese are waiting for a pricedrop.
Thats exactly the reason. They are actually waiting for the lower prices and DECENT GAMES. Halo 3 is gonna be the killer game of 07/08.
The PC is not a dedicated platform, Games Consoles can be made to preform better than PCs because they dont need the useless kernels and poor software drivers.
A PC is a good platform, and i think i am sticking to it for both work and games. -Mainly for the variety and the versatility.
I'd always go for the PC. Even though it is less compatible overall, it is cheaper than the Mac. It seems to me that Steve Jobs charges for every single penny he can get out of his customers. At least with a PC you can use Linux, which is completely free.
I'm not sure if you have actually used your eyes/ brain recently...Mac hardware is more than capable of running linux...and mac IS linux...well..unix..Mac OS X is based on BSD!
I have solved the mac/pc problem by DUAL BOOTING my Mac OS X and windows on my AMD Athlon 64 X2....Mac runs faster on that than it does on their hardware. And windows can be used for the rest of the crap i do.
I don't think they have said anything yet, but should be pretty nice- wont work on XP, or even Vista, because more than either 5 or 6 cores aren't supported...
