WELCOME AND HI

this post is for all you gamers and clan members, it's a post to help decide the future of a gamer's HEAVEN!  so give it a freaking read! and reply back your thoughts.. any thoughts.. give me something!

A while back.. okay 1998, blizzard shut my @$$ down, the KDV lounge in HAMILTON, ON. was done and closed, and i had to payout a cool $80 000 (cdn) to blizzard for violating the EULA of starcraft

but now after running into a few key folks and some long discussion with the girl friend... (now fiance), i'm trying to open up another gaming lounge.  so i need a few key things decided before i pitch this to the bank.

1. floor plan.. it's 52x130 feet about 6750sq/feet.. so doodle and email me your idea's

2. systems, all pc? or console's as well? which ones?

3. games. i want you to list 5 games for LAN compitition.

4.tell me what you think of a few of these idea's
a.VIP membership with 'specail' computers (like parking) all decked out

b.killer moniters for compitition network.. im thinking a seperate LAN with these
    http://www.seamlessdisplay.com/products_3x1.htm

c. regular KLAN WAR hosting, a night closed to the public.. like league night at a
bowling alley... like every thursday or something.

d. A wall of fame.. i figure that one's definite.

e. LLBO.. (liquor licence board of ontario) yes, no.. how many of you are over 19?

f. an in house computer shop specailizing in hardware retail and o/c services.?

g. i take over the subway next door and make it even bigger???

h. joining forces with a local hotel, and bringing in Klans from all over every
month or two?? maybe running a bus to toronto.

i. i'm thinking 6 sets of 16 computers each on seperate LANs, 4 with standard
equipment. one for VIP's and one with steering whels.

j. big comfy chairs and cup holders for every computer? or what?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
anyways this is jus whats in my brain right now.. feel free to add to this and tell me what you guys like.  fill my email with doodles and suggestions.. or post them here so others can see your creations and comment on your genius!  B)

this is huntsville muskoka, and every winter and summer we are FLOODED with tourist with cash to burn and nothing to do... the summer brings hundreds of college students working at the local resorts...

WHAT DO YOU THINK???  :guh:

So, it's going to be like a huge LAN arena?

5 Games:

Halo
Diablo 2: LOD
Half Life 2
Doom 3
Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour

Liquor, do not know. I am below (19). Perhaps not since people might do *things* if they get drunk.

So, that's why you wanted to ask about LCD monitors. :) Anyways, you should set up ~10LAN's in the arena.

GameCube (for internet), Xbox Live, PS2 Online, PC

By the way, I think this is an EXCELLENT idea.

Sounds Great, and you are just next door from me. You know, the city of Rocking Toronto.

I recommend High Speed DSL w/ Gigabyte LAN 10/100/1000/10,000

O.K. the last one is a joke 10,000, but it would be nice

If you need any other advice on games & other things, you can ask me or I can direct you to some of my friends who are big gaming fans.

By the way, will you be designing a website for this LAN arena?

definetly Counterstrike, the one that comes with HL2 (CS Source) kinda sucks though, maybe put 1.6 on some machines and Source on others? maybe to increase volume, you could set up a few basic machines just for internet surfing and work, like a bunch of comps against the wall...

cup holders/drinks would be a risky thing...sumone is BOUND to spill it on your chairs, desk, MOUSE KEYBOARD...and it's not like people will tell you who did what, they'd just leave it there...so maybe rethink that idea...

personally, i don't think you should set up consoles...a computer gaming place would be perfectly fine, but for console playing...people could stay at home and play easily...but they can't LAN at home...

having a comp maintenance place is a good idea...and since you're a \"gaming arcade\" basically people will definetly trust you to build nice gaming rigs for them, or install vid cards n crap if they can't do it themselves...

oh and why dsl when you can hook up T1 lines?

and for monitors...i don't think LCD's will save you TOO much space, and CRT monitors are technically better for gaming, so to go with lower cost..you can get liek 19\" decent crt's...not like you care about your customers eyesight..lol

you guys have any thoughts on this?

got a total of 32 triple display lcd set-ups.. in the vip and against the back wall...
each box with one will have a flight stick and wheel, the rest are crt's and mouse and key board.

6 lans total.. 16 boxes on each
4 laptop hook-ups with full access

the yellow box and line in the top right corner is to represent a rear projection of peoples screens hanging over head

the light blue is beverage boundry line and 19yrs only.. each computer in here will be 'spill proof'

the X'ed box between the enterance and retail is a wheelchair ramp.(by-law)

each LAN will normally be locked out to just 16, but will be able to access the others if needed.

the VIP boxes will be matched with something from the 'lay-Z Boy' line-up  B)

:yammer: so yak back and tell me what you'd change... :guh:   seeing how the floor plan directly results my conversation with the bank

eh, only thing i can think of is people looking at other people's screens while playing like CS or something...like if you made small \"pods\" nobody could see the other person's screen....but then that takes up more space..hrm....just putting stuff out there..

well team play is easy... every one on one side is team 1 and the other side is team 2.... for slayer or free 4 alls i figure people can sort it out.. and staff can deal with any troublesome people. :) .. where there's a bar there's a bouncer.

but definatly, i could rig up a blind for each machine if needed.. tournament play and such... i will plan on a retractable blind for all vip boxes now,, thanks for the suggestions.. got any more?? keep them coming!

Be sure to have Halo 2 as well. This is a killer game among teenagers, lately.

Nooo. I meant for XBOX. If Halo 2 comes out for PC soon enough, then get it!
