The long-standing issue of subpar PlayStation 3 ports plaguedmuch of the system's software through 2007, and many are hoping thattrend doesn't continue. One such example was the recently released PS3port of Orange Box,which has come under scrutiny for performing poorly in comparison toits PC and Xbox 360 counterparts. However, Valve has taken notice andstepped up to the plate, polling the player base to identify issuesthat need fixing.
In a post on Valve's official forums, Valve community member BurtonJ calls for tweak and fix suggestions. As the PS3 version was outsourced to EA and subsequently delayed, the immediate patchwork typically done by Valve in-house has been slowin coming. Users have already begun to respond in droves, and just fromthe suggestions alone, it's apparent that there are many, manyoutstanding problems.
It's always good to hear that a developer is working to amend problemswith its titles, and Valve has certainly showed a commitment to theOrange Box suite of software since its debut in the fall of last year. However, one can't help but wonder when this string of poorlyperforming third-party ports will end.
