my friend is selling his dell 1905fp (i think that's the model, it's a 19\" w/24ms response)  for 200bucks...but i found the samsun 915n on sale at newegg right now w/rebate for $272. the reviews sed it's amazing for FPS like bf2 and cs....both of which i have and do play, BUT it's analog and i heard there's a pretty big difference between analog and dvi in terms of color and clarity...anyone verify this? or know of any good monitors around, under 250 that's good for gaming??

The Dell is a pretty good monitor, not sure about the Samsung though.

If you want a good LCD for gaming finding a 19' one will be rather hard under $250 (new).  If you really game a lot though you may want to think of getting a CRT instead.

A CRT will generally be better for gaming. And to add on a word of advice, tell your friend to keep the 2045FPW. Great monitor.

A quality gaming LCD monitor will be hard to find for $250. One of the cheapest ones I would recommend would be the Hyundai L90D+. It uses a TN panel which is great for gaming, but it sacrifices colour representation, image quality, and viewing angles for the best response time possible. It also displays 6-bit colour. This is not really a problem when it comes to games as the 6-bit spectrum offers more than enough colour accuracy to match even the most graphically demanding game out there. However, when it comes to things like watching movies, picture editing or even general desktop use, the difference from these panels to the S-IPS and PVA/MVA is noticeable.

Also, you could even just save up a little more money and get a Dell 2005FPW. Dell often has offers where you can get it ~$350. At this price I don't see why you would want anything else. It is not the most respnsive monitor out there, but it has a high native resolution, excellent colour reproduction and visual quality, and excellent viewing angles. Another huge advantage with this monitor is the fact that it is widescreen. This gives you an advantage in FPS games especially since you can see more on the sides.

I wouldn't go the ebay route when it comes to monitors. You are probably more likely to get one with dead pixels and stuff.
