I have a fealing the 64 bit long horn is going to rock. they took 4 years in makeing it so i under stand.
Well the one thing about the Long Horn I heard is that it will not look & feel like the Windows XP Pro at all. :)
The Long Horn will be based on pure 3D Graphic's, so anybody which wants to use the Long Horn will have to have an above Mainstream Graphic's Card for it to run on it. The Long Horn is completely Graphic Card dependent. :)
So, would an FX5200 be fine? It's 128MB, 2D & 3D.

not what i heared. 512 will take 98% of the public out of the race bro. From what i was told 128 meg is main stream for 2006 computers built in US. You do realize that there still building and saleing computers with 64 meg graghics right? No i think and computer runing 128 meg to 256 meg graghic cards will be fine runing in 2006 and 2007.
I guess i find this imposible to swallow is all. 99% of the public will have 128 meg to 256 meg graghics in 2006 and 2007. I would say 87% of them will not be in a posistion to upgrade. Microsoft puts out a OS that needs 512 video there seting them selfs up for massive losses for the first 3 years. Every one with AGP would be forced to switch to SLI. Unless they come out with a cost efective 512 meg card for AGP. Keep in mind the average person upgrades there PC once every 4 years.
512mb? doubt it. maybe if longhorn is delayed until like 5 years later maybe. but if they sell an OS like longhorn which needs 512mb of vram.. then noone is going to buy it, it's as simple as that.. and not only would you need 512mb of vram.. but you would need around 2gb of ram to run it stable if it needed 512mb of vram.. so I very much doubt it would sell AT ALL.
I mean.. jeez... I can pretty much assume out of all the computers out there, 60% would be running less than 64mb vram.. infact.. proberbly even I higher percentage that that.
And on top of that, you have the factor of how many people have bought XP. I you can pretty much assume that most of them won't upgrade for another 5, maybe even 7 years.

I agree. There are very few people in the general public who have graphics cards larger the 128mb. Its really only the gamers and graphics designers who have the big stuff.
I voted for XP and 98SE, though if MS-DOS was up there, I would have voted for it.
